  Preparing For Your Appointment
 
YOU MUST BE SMOKE-FREE FOR AT LEAST 2 HOURS PRIOR TO TREATMENT. YOU MUST BE CHEW-FREE FOR 3 HOURS. 4 HOURS FOR PATCHES AND NICOTINE GUM. Wash the area where the patch was with soap and water.
Get rid of all nicotine products.
Throw away all cigarette lighters. Buy a long Bar-B-Q lighter instead. Clean up your smoking areas, pick up all butts and get rid of all ashtrays.
Clear out your car, truck and garage. Check all coat pockets.
If someone in your house uses nicotine, ask them to please keep their nicotine picked up and out of your sight. A designated smoking area is the ideal situation, but not required for your success.
Don’t tell everyone you’re quitting. Do tell your family members or very close friends you are quitting. Tell them to not ask you how you’re doing for 2 to 3 weeks. (We will teach you a response in case someone asks.)
DO NOT BUY CANDY, GUM, MINTS OR OTHER SUBSTITUTES. You will not need them.
If you have earrings, please remove them prior to arrival. We can work around them but it is easier and quicker without them in.
We take Cash, Discover, Visa, MasterCard, or Debit Cards. We do not take personal checks or Insurance.
Make a "TO-DO" list. It must be written or in your phone. See the next page for ideas of things to do.

  TO-DO List
 
  Your list should consist of things that you need to do, want to do, don't want to do, but need to. Write down some things to do when you are bored. They should take between 5-10 minutes to accomplish. Some examples are listed below. It should be a physical list, not just in your memory.
  • Clean out a junk drawer
  • Wash a window or two
  • Clean out the refrigerator
  • Sweep the garage
  • Clean out your car
  • Wash the inside of car windshield
  • Clean out the litter box
  • Start a load of laundry
  • Sort the laundry
  • Sort things for yard sale
  • Mop the floor
